Dining Room Re-do

How much difference does a little color make?

Faded Clay is the color.
The dining room was the first room we
painted after we moved in.
We haven't made many changes in here since.

My goal is to one day replace the window with a pair of french doors to a garden room.
Hopes and dreams...something to wish for!

I think when I tire of this color we will put in a
wainscote and chair rail.
I'm kicking around the idea of purple
(eggplant) for the walls next! ;)

Wearing 'O the Green Tablescape

I had so much fun on this tablescape.
I used a few pieces I had, but there was nothing
that shouted St Patty's Day.
So I set a $20 limit and challenged myself.

Purple placemats 4 for $6 and green dishclothes
used as napkins 3 for $2 at Tuesday Morning
Irish plate $2 and purple stem glasses $2 at TJ Maxx
Artichoke bowl $3 at Pier One
Black pot $1 at Dollar Tree
Gold Coins $1 at Michael's

Stairs Update

I love it!
Sue, Someone's Mom at I Need Mom has volunteered to "Mom" me through my stair procrastination with humor!
Kelly at Make it Sparkly Mama will hold me accountable
and Red Door Home recommends out of town
visitors to get me moving!
Thank you all so much!
Your comments are just what I needed!

My goal is one month:
starting Sat Feb 27th
completed by Sat Mar 27th
We removed the carpet and discovered gobs of carpet glue and lots of holes and gauges.

So the order of business is:
 scraping and patching
followed by sanding, painting and staining.
The plan is to paint the risers white and stain the treads a medium oak to match the floors.
The spindles, rails and base boards will get a
fresh coat of paint also.
OK! Let's do this thing!

I'm a User!

That's right! I admit it! I'm using you!
I'm using you to keep me on task! I need help! Major help! Maybe even an intervention!
My addiction is...
Procrastination!
Is there even a cure for this? I'm thinking, NOT!
So I'm using you as my conscience to get the job done.
I can't very well tell you I'm going to do something
and then not do it, can I?

Yeah, I know, I'm not beholden to you and could back-out. But...eventually my conscience would
get to me on principle, right?

So here is the thing!
The great big, stare me in the face thing,
that has been in this state for...dare I even admit it...
 5 months!

Now that you have assessed the situation,
you agree with me, right?
Help is neccessary to cure my ills!
So I can count on you then...for my intervention?

Awesome! I knew you were the right person(s) to ask!

Remodeled Family Room

We've worked on remodeling our house for a little over a year now and the single largest part of it has been installing the wood floors. We had wood in the foyer and dining room and added wood to the living room, kitchen and family room.
I'm sharing the transformation of the family room here.

This is shortly after we moved in. We inherited the blue wall!

Soon after, I decided I was going to go light and neutral with a sand wall color.
Well, those of you that know me, know that I am all about color, color and more color. Needless to say I wasn't comfortable with beige. In fact I felt like I was living in a "skin" cocoon which quickly transitioned into a nails on a chalkboard feeling every time I entered the room.

I decided on Laura Ashley Olive #4...for now. ;)
and painted the trim white

We bought shelving to flank the fireplace.

Removed the carpet and put in the wood floors...plank by plank as hubbys' knees and back will attest!

We bought the sectional sofa and rug and painted the
old tables a dark brown

A Family room to live and play in and be proud of too.
We need to do some work on the firepalce mantel and surround, that will be another post one day!
